Amrita Hospital, K. Chittilappilly Foundation & Indian Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases Conduct Program on Lymphatic Filariasis Eradication Plan

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, K. Chittilappilly Foundation and Indian Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases jointly organised “Lymphatic Filariasis Eradication Plan” for filariasis patients on January 28, 2017. Sri. Vellappally Natesan, SN Trust, General Secretary, inaugurated the function at SN College auditorium, Cherthala. Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center delivered the presidential address.

Filariasis is a major public health problem of Kerala for centuries and the Chertala has been affected by this disease the most. It is a disease of the poor and also the manifestation is acute in the old age. Lack of awareness and negligence are the two major challenges faced here. An important part of the meet was the distribution of free medical treatment kits and a demo class for severely disabled patients.
